Revenue levels are rising for the Hockey leagues

June 21st, 2010 by Sebastian

It seems that the recession has not dampened the appetite for the NHL Hockey Finals. The ad sponsorship revenue has gone up by sixty six percent in this season alone. That is an astonishing figure when you consider that there are many other sports that are competing for the marketing opportunities. It is also an indication that the NHL Hockey Finals season will bring some very lucrative deals to those that are involved in the game. It is not just the ad sales that are up but also the merchandise sales. There was a twenty two percent rise for the playoffs and this will go on to support the traditional revenue streams. In short the future of the party is very much guaranteed in the NHL Hockey Finals.

The viewer numbers are also rising with some record figures at the Chicago Blackhawks run on the Stanley Cup circuit. This is great news for the sport as well as the sponsors because they do not have to carry the burden of the sport on their own. It also means that the NHL Hockey Finals plays can afford to be picky about the people that they advertise with. This is something that can only be seen as a great benefit to all the parties involved in the game. We would like to think of sport as being pure and free from commercialism but the reality is that the sporting world is now part of the market and we have to just accept it as it is. The fact that the NHL Hockey Finals are bringing in the money should be a source of comfort rather than worry for the people that really care about the sport. It means that we have a healthy competition.

In the event it is a great thing that the NHL Hockey Finals are popular because it shows that the sport is touching the younger generation. Without them the future is not so bright and the future advertising might not cut the cake. All these are welcome developments for the sport.

Blackhawks make their cup in half a century

June 21st, 2010 by Sebastian

The atmosphere was suitably electric and the attendances were unprecedented when the Chicago Blackhawks National Hockey League came top in the Stanley Cup. This victory was all the sweeter because it had taken them the best part of half a century to try and get their goal. There was plenty of cheering and thumping as the results came in and it became clear that the team was going to carry the cup home on this occasion. The fans numbered some two million which is indicative of the importance of the game and the kind of attachment that they feel towards it. They have to be commended for the effort and the refusal to give up even when the duck seemed to be completely stuck with them.

The role of the young pairing of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane cannot be underestimated in the effort to lift the cup. They have to be commended for their tenacity and team spirit that enabled them to lift the prestigious trophy once more. The open air celebrations were well deserved because of the great efforts that everyone put into the game especially in the final stages where a mishap could have given the opposing team some hope. This is the overall fourth title for the Blackhawks and they are no longer a team that can be sniffed at. When they needed to, they delivered the goods in plenty.

The dreaded question is then regarding the following projects after such a victory. It seems that the Blackhawks are determined to remain a fixture within the NHL Hockey Finals fixtures. They are a relatively young team that has all the potential to bring in more trophies if given half the chance. They are currently at the top of their game which essentially means that they can do many things that would not be possible in other circumstances. The competition is fierce but the early indications are that they can cope with the competition very well and should succeed in their endeavors if given the chance to do so.
